"Piti, piti, wazo fe nich li."
Little by little the bird builds its nest.
Our team on the ground in Haiti is organized in two groups: School Team and Operational Team.
The only payroll supported by donations to Wings Over Haiti is for work completed in Haiti, by Haitians, for Haitians.
Carina Blon, after graduating from high school in incredibly high academic standing in June of 2010, decided to move to Haiti to live and work at the Wings Over Haiti School rather than going off to college. She was not quite sure what she would be doing, but she was sure it was the right thing she was doing. So were we. Since moving to Croix-des-Bouquets in July of 2010, Carina has become the "mother" of all in our community there. She is fluent in Kreyol -- self-taught. She knows where each of our 42 students lives, and goes out on home visits every day. The lack of health care in Haiti has become Carina's predominant concern. We are working on helping her design a path that will enable her to continue to live and learn in Haiti, while providing her with the opportunity to learn medical skills so she can help where she feels most needed. As the roots of Wings Over Haiti have taken hold and begun to grow, Carina has played a pivotal role in connecting all of its branches. She introduced us to Cloud computing so all members of this team, no matter where they may be, can stay connected.
