Breakthrough II School Hartford, CT  Pre-K  -  5 Both Students collect food that goes to Haiti on our monthly trips. This food helps to sustain our students and their families. Students studied folktales and did their own retellings to our students. They also learned the song, "Lean On Me" and sang this to WOH students in Haiti
Bridgehampton High School Bridgehampton, NY 9-12 Curriculum Students requested soil samples from the new land. The samples will be used to determine what crops would be best suited for the land and its climate.
Clayton Huey Elementary School Center Moriches, NY K-5 Fundraising Students will be working on a supply drive to be able to provide individual supply packages to each of our 43 students when the new school opens in October of 2011. Each grade will take on the responsibility of collecting a different supply. The Student Council will gather all of the supplies and pack everything up for Haiti.
Corlears School New York, NY K- 5 Both Reading mentoring using bilingual books, a "Day in the Life" video in which kindergartners will produce videos outlining their lives. These will be exchanged with WHO kids in Haiti. They will be highlighting Haitian culture at their spring fair and students will be using their "loose change jar" which generates a few thousand dollars to purchase an item for the school in Haiti (students will present arguments about which item should be purchased and they will decide).
Gotham Avenue School Elmont, NY 5 & 6 Curriculum The International Literacy Club sewed sock monkeys and wrote stories about them for the school in Haiti. This group is comprised of many ESL students from all over the world (some from Haiti).
Middletown High School Middletown, NY 12-Sep Both Students have collected over 1500 books to fill the library at the new school once construction is complete. The art club is painting the students' portraits to send to them to inspire art! Middletown senior, Carina Blon, is investigating solar cookers. She will be testing the efficacy of cooking with a solar cooker in Haiti to reduce dependency on trees for cooking.
JFK Middle School Port Jefferson Station, NY 6-8 Both Writing and publishing fantasy stories, devising and initiating fundraising initiatives, day to day operations of WHO school in Haiti (seeking satellite providers, ordering uniforms, creating plans for new land, etc…)
PS8 The Robert Fulton School Brooklyn, NY K Both Posters and stickers of the children's handprint collage (generously donated by a class parent) will be offered for sale to families in early April.  Proceeds will be donated to Wings Over Haiti. The poster will also be sent to the Wings Over Haiti school as a reminder to children in both countries of the importance of lending a helping hand to each other. Children will also be collecting donations of dried foods which will be brought to Haiti.
Riverside Public School Huntsville, Ontario, Canada K - 8 Both Students and teachers organized a huge fundraising event that raised over a thousand dollars and also collected innumerable supplies for the school. This school will be organizing a Canadian branch of WHO with its students and teachers.
Sag Harbor Elementary School Sag Harbor, NY K- 5 Fundraising For the holidays, students sponsored a  book drive which resulted in our ability to provide picture books to all of our students in Haiti. For all of these children, this is the first picture book they have ever owned.
