Jonathan Nash Glynn, Director and Founder
In January 2010, Wings Over Haiti founder Jonathan Nash Glynn, flew into Haiti in his single-engine plane in order to provide emergency aid in the aftermath of one of the worst natural disasters in modern times. After spending 19 days in Haiti, Jonathan returned home to raise money to return and Wings Over Haiti was born. With the emergency relief efforts over, Jonathan was determined to facilitate lasting, self-sustaning change in the lives of Haiti's children through education. In addition, Jonathan is steadfast in connecting Wings Over Haiti's efforts with local community needs as well. It is clear that people both locally and in Haiti have basic human needs that aren't being met.

Shad St. Louis, Haitian Director
Wings Over Haiti would not be able to operate successfully on the ground in Haiti without Shad St. Louis. Shad was born in the village of Croix-des-Bouquets, where the Wings Over Haiti School is currently located. His father worked tirelessly to earn enough money to move his wife and children to the United States because they feared for their lives during the political turmoil in Haiti during the 1980's. His father was able to get the entire family into the United States, only to die shortly thereafter in a car accident. This left Shad with a strong resolve to do well in school, go to college, and ultimately return to Haiti to create sustainable change through education. Shad currently works as a guidance counselor in Middletown, New York, and manages our Haitian team on the ground in Haiti.

Melissa McMullan, School Director
The philosophy of Wings Over Haiti is that people can work together in mutually beneficial exchanges. Melissa McMullan teaches sixth grade in Port Jefferson Station, New York, and also serves as the Director of the Wings Over Haiti School in Haiti. Her teaching is based upon the premise that students can work together in ways that offer mutual learning benefits. Her students in New York are developing strong reading, writing, listening, speaking and critical thinking skills through their work in running the Wings Over Haiti School in Haiti. Students have edited writing for publishing to serve as a fundraiser, listened to teacher interviews filmed in Haiti and hired the teacher, called telecommunications providers in Haiti to research Internet access for the school site, created a Wings Over Haiti phone application, etc... Melissa works with advisors at Queens College and Hofstra University and local school districts to support staff development in Haiti and curriculum development for students in the United States and Haiti. You can follow her work in the classroom on her blog.
